No more swamp?
Posted: Tue Mar 27, 2007 1:50 pmWell, after some looking around in the cleared out part of our backyard, we realized that there is a pretty large drainage pipe that dumps into our yard from the back of the property. I decided to call the county and see if they could do something to move it.
I got the call back today. That can't really do anything about the drainage pipe because it's placed in the lowest part of the road. Our property is the lowest point between 2 valleys. Anyway, they looked at the property, surveyed it, and "shot" it and here is what they are planning on doing....
They found out that the East side of our drainage pipe is 2" higher than the West side of the pipe. Our neighbors to the West, their drainage pipe should actually be 6" lower than it is.
The county is going to put a drainage pipe under the road where our electric pole is (close to our water meter). They will have to tear up the new driveway that was put it at the new house across the street to put the pipe in.
Also, they will be digging out the ditch across the street to a foot deep all around down the street so the water will go to the appropriate draiinage spots to fill the tanks.
The county has been very helpful and courteous. They told us that it will be messy before it gets better but they are at least willing to work with us to get the yard draining right which is all we asked for.
Now for the side note: As you noticed, I put the about the tearing up of the driveway across the street. Everyone knows that we aren't real happy about the house being built in the first place, much less the crappy job done on it. Well, a couple of weekends ago, the builder came across the street, (our neighbor Bill was there along with our buddy Troy with the DPS coupe), and proceeded to ask Jeff to build a fence to hide the trucks in our yard because he needs to be able to sell his $180k investment and won't be able to do that with the trucks visible. 
So, this last weekend our Demon sides came out in full force. Jerry was showing the house (Michael and Kris, it still looks the same as when you saw it) so Jeff had a little of Dope's "Die Mother Fucker Die" cranking in the garage along with a little WASP's "Fuck Like a Beast." Yeah, we also have the pentagram hanging by the front door (Texas Star) and are planning a little something Demonic for the front yard.
