I am trying to consolidate some of my mountains of paper files, so I had the brainstorm to scan the stuff I wanted to keep and dump it to a DVD on my laptop. But, I apparently can only write one time to a DVD-R disc. Is there another type of disc that will allow me to write to it multiple times like in the old floppy disc days? Help a dummy out here.

External Hard Drive would be my suggestion. I also was thinking of doing this. You can hold way more information, which is great because digital images take up a lot of room.

dvd + r should be the re-writeable disc's you need. i had the same problem because i was buying dvd - r disc's instead of dvd + r disc's.

Actually no. The difference between DVD-R and DVD+R is simply the technology used to write the data to the disc. What you need is a DVD-RW (Which stands for Re-Writable).
