Body swap
Posted: Sun Oct 19, 2014 10:16 amAs you all may know I was going to take the explorer body off of my frame and put a ranger cab on and make it a truggy. Got the ranger cab in June of 2012 and was steadily working on it for the first couple of months. Winter came along and kept me from working on it. Then I got into law enforcement and had no free time. In March Randall came to Victoria and I finally took the explorer body off and put the ranger cab on the frame. It stayed that way until August and wasn't touched. I talked to kris several months back asking how cheap I could get a 4-door explorer in good condition body wise. He said that he might have a 99 Mercury mountaineer body available. I told kris if it was for sale I'd take it. I planned on swapping the body myself, but considered I didn't have any time before and decided to let kris and Russell at bandit customs in Austin do all the work. As of now they are putting in a 4.0 sohc motor, 5r55e automatic tranny, installing my doubler, modifying my tranny cross member and exhaust, painting the frame, and installing my hydro assist steering. I can't wait to get it back and see the finished product.
