Gear installs...

Ok, I thought I had a deal in Dallas to do an axle swap and give the guy some cash for an axle with 4.10 gears.

He miss understood what I wanted. He thought I was buying the axle from him for $550 and paying him time and use of his garage for $100 to swap the new axle underneath my truck and me keeping my 3.73 axle.

So, I need help determining the price break point of buying an axle with 4.10's or buying the 4.10 gears and getting them installed.

So my question is, how much would it cost to get 4.10 gears installed in my current rear differential. I'm not worried about the front diffy yet, I'll run with the front driveshaft off until I can afford the install in the front. BTW, I'm already buying the front gears from Gerald.
I already know that a Master install kit would probably cost around $100. But, do I need one, since my 3.73 rear end only has 36K miles on it?

The other week in El Paso, I found a junkyard with an 8.8 and 4.10s and the guy said he wanted $450 for it.
I will also check the junkyard here in Houston that I frequent for a 4.10 axle. I saw one there once. I need to go there to look for a wheel bearing/hub assembly for the Sport Trac anyway.

Thanks for the help.
Regards,
John
