Maybe only the same two people are producing them and just figure they can flood the market with whatever suits their mood.
As for the Mayan theme....already played out the Egyptians (The mummy...the mummy again...)and Greek/ Roman tragedies (Troy, King Author, Gladiator...) these past few years. Gotta move on a bit.
