So I have decided to go the divorced transfer case route. Randall suggested the np205 so I am on the hunt for one now. I think I may have found one on Craigslist

Since it's divorced, it doesn't really matter if it's driver's drop or passenger drop, so long as the front axle you get matches it. If you're thinking you're going to go stock Xterra stuff in the front, even temporarily, you'll want driver's drop. The NP205 comes in both, driver's drop for Ford, passenger drop for Chevy.

Mid size: narrower, can fit more easily in and around certain obstacles.

Full width: Better lateral stability.

For full width you could do super duty axles front and rear, I'm pretty sure they are set up for abs.

For narrow width, the jk axles are a good choice. Might be spendy.

Should you decide that full width is for you, you can EASILY get both Super Duty axles for less than one JK axle. Either set is going to require you to buy new wheels, as they each have different bolt patterns than your current set-up. Now, not all Super Duty's have front and rear ABS, so you'll want to make double sure on the set you purchase (again, if you decide on full width). The 05+ all have 35 spline outer axle shafts, bigger ring and pinion, and bigger brakes than the 99-04 axles, plus they are already set up for coil springs (rather than leafs).

Yes, even with shipping of $600, you're still looking at both for the price of one JK axle. Or, you could just drive up to TN and get them yourself. :lol
