I feel like pimping the garage out (no, not for money!).
I'm thinking:
5.1 audio installed with in-ceiling speakers.
A four-gang wall plate with HDMI, Toslink, Cable, cat-5E, 5.1 audio, and component video.
Two-gang wall plate with power, HDMI, Component, and toslink at TV viewing height.
Network switch, Receiver.

Also planning to add an attic stairs so I can store my halloween stuff above the garage (instead of taking up half of it!). I'm thinking of throwing down some roll in insulation, then topping that off with plywood. Then adding some clost rods up there to hang demons. Any recommendations on attic stairs?

The sell a full kit (latter folds up into its self) that you just cut the hole in the ceiling, get with Kris, I'm betting he can get you a deal.

I'm also thinking of dropping by Lowe's to pick up a garage door opener. Any suggestions?
Belt vs. Chain vs. Gear drive?

Also, these jackshaft style openers are pretty intriguing...
Kris: can that opener be special ordered through Lowe's, since it's a Chamberlain product? I have a couple gift cards to use.

Also, would it be weird to have a ceiling fan in the garage? I'm thinking, a low-profile one that would fit under the garage door, when opened, obviously, or just moving it back far enough so that it is useful when the door is open.

Randall, DO NOT get a genie operator for the door. Get a craftsman, chamberlain, or lift master.

Do you have experience with jack shaft operators? Approve/disapprove?

Jack shafts are nice. Pretty quick in the commercial world. You'll usually see hacks haft operators on doors that roll onto themselves as they go up and on sectional doors that have highlift tracks. Your's is standard lift. That's crazy that they make them for residential now.

The nice thing about them is that they look like they free up all of that ceiling space.

And you get that type of door opener and you can not mount a ceiling fan in the center...

Haha, the Lowe's one doesn't have the mini fridge any more, either. plus, I could get all of those cabinets for less money.

Also, I'm putting in-ceiling speakers in the garage, so I don't need the dinky speakers that come in that unit.

Well as far as pimping garages goes, thanks to Randall I now I have nice new shelf hanging in my garage, upon which I have attached the "4.0" badge off the Trac. Now the shelf is just waiting for a demon sticker to be cut to be able to put on it...or a magnet one of the two..
