Well My plan is to be ready for this Run in May. Ill be Running the Mountaineer. Plan to have a Locker and new tires on it by then. Any thoughts?

I'm betting 3 is probably good for me, I'm willing to try 4, but it says serious offroad driving skills needed. As I've not done much I'm not sure how well I'd do there.

Lol. I'm ignoring that part, or I'd be on the service roads the whole time.

I plan on getting the 285s again which is about a 33 same size just not bald. I'm not Gina run the sticker trails but I won't run big dog trails. I'll most likely get steal front bumper for it so as to not ruin my factory one.

Cool. So is your plan then to use said bumper on the mountaineer temporarily and then swap it over to the sport?

Are you targeting level three trails then?

I definitely want to spend "demon free day" with all of us on the same trail. Anyone have any suggestions there?

Just added a shitload of info on Moab trails "From behind the wheel of a Ford Explorer" by the aforementioned Gerald Jarrett to the original post. Everyone should take a look at that and put forth any trails that they would like to complete.

What do you think about using the "genius scan" on the iphone. It'll take a whole but we could scan the book into PDF format and all have it saved on our phones/iPad? (the iPad aimed at me haha)

Man this is a trip I would love to take in Red Flyer II. I have heard so many great things about it.

If I ever did decide to go on this Red would still need some work to be at least in the Modified category, which is where I want to be. No body damage, thank you.

Dan they have Stock level Trails you could go on. Also if you careful on Elephant hill you will not suffer body damage. My Black Navajo handled it just fine with no fear of body damage.

If Kris will take the Fashion Hoe, it can't be that bad.

Well the Flyer is sitting on 33's at the moment with only a LS in the rear. Hopefully that won't be too big of an issue. However, running the 3.73 gearing is putting a nice crimp in my power output (not to mention gas mileage). Besides I need decent recovery points, because I sure as hell am not going to use my beautiful bright red bumper. I also need to find a way to get my leaf packs to be a little perkier as they are currently sagging too much for me even with the shackles. I am going to max out the torsion bars on the front, per Kris' suggestion. Also body protection is a big thing for me as this still needs to remain a DD, so sliders? (The Dodge already fills the beater, butt ugly side of my life, so I don't need to put my good looking ride on its side. )

Arrghhh! The list goes on and on. I guess it all comes out to "must have's" and "want to's". And I haven't even been off-road in the damn thing yet!!!

Any suggestions from you guys would be appreciated. I'll just store it in my over stuffed file called "Long-Term Projects".

Extended shackles actually contribute to leaf spring sag.

True an Add a leaf will correct a lot of that.. If you get a locker just install a powertrax in the rear diff.. The 3.73 will get you most places with your low range.

Why really spend the money if you truly don't want to offroad it?
