GO BIG ON NOV. 6 OR PACK UP AND GO HOME - YOUR CHOICE

Dear Trail Voter,

TPAC is letting OHV voters know that it is time to GO BIG or GO HOME. On November 6, our future will be decided one way or the other. If you want to change the laws, rules, and regulations that govern motorized recreation on public and private lands --- we must have a net gain of 4 pro-trail senators (3 if Romney/Ryan win) to change the closure paradigm in D.C.

Our trail majority (if we elect them) have shown they are ready to use their budget, legislative, and oversight authority to rein in unelected federal regulators.

Because of recent support from heroes and champions like you, TPAC is sending $1,000 dollars to each of our new key targeted senate races today. Those two new campaigns are: Josh Mandel (OH-Senate) and Richard Mourdock (IN-Senate).

TPAC will send donations to additional key targeted senate races that could help us reach our magic number on Nov. 6 depending on the additional support from you. TPAC is also looking at one or two more key targeted House races to support.

As many of you get ready to watch the Vice Presidential Debate tonight, be sure and check back on your electronic communication devices for a TPAC update on any new races that we are able to support because of donations from you today.

Donate $25 - $5000 to STOP the assault on family oriented OHV recreation

It's funny. I was thinking the other day that I miss the days when I didn't have to worry about politics and legislation. Those days are gone though. No matter you political preference it is clear that all should be aware of what is being done in your name. If you ignore the representatives chosen to represent you and they do something you don't agree with then how can you complain. If we truly are a country for the people and by the people. Then we must monitor the guardians we choose to manage it.

This country hasn't been for or about the people in a long time, truly sad. I can only imagine how much worse it'll get for my children.

OHV Now Has Bite To Go Along with Bark

Dear Trail Voter,

There is a reason why various OHV leaders, enthusiasts, and business owners have endorsed TPAC's effort to elect a pro-trail majority to the U.S. Senate and retain the pro-trail majority in the House of Representatives. They want to continue to enjoy motorized recreation on public and private lands.

One long-time political operative in Washington D.C. recently said... "TPAC is a trail-blazer because it is tapping into something powerful by giving the OHV community teeth."

November 6, our future will be decided one way or the other. If you want to change the laws, rules, and regulations that govern motorized recreation on public and private lands --- we must have a net gain of 4 pro-trail senators (3 if Romney/Ryan win) to change the closure paradigm in D.C.

If you don't think regulators are out-of-control... just remember the CPSC "Ban" on youth-sized OHVs. Also, Mt. Hood National Forest closed 2,300 miles of OHV routes in a single decision. Then we have ongoing issues such as excessive OHV "cost recovery" fees (up to $50K for a single enduro) for permitted events. Federal regulators are now looking at trail closures based on microscopic organisms instead of traditional large "indicator" species such as the Northern Spotted Owl. It won't stop unless WE help stop them.

Our trail majority (if we elect them) have shown they are ready to use their budget, legislative, and oversight authority to rein in unelected federal regulators.

TPAC will continue to send donations to additional key targeted senate races that could help us reach our magic number on Nov. 6 depending on the additional support from you. TPAC is also looking at one or two more key targeted House races to support.

Donate $25, $50, $100, $250, $500, $1,000 up to $5,000 dollars to STOP the assault on family oriented OHV recreation and the vehicles we use.

THE TRAIL PAC ENDORSES MITT ROMNEY AND PAUL RYAN
FOR PRESIDENT AND VICE PRESIDENT

NORTH BETHESDA, MD (Oct. 16) - The Trail Political Action Committee (TPAC) is announcing today its strong endorsement of Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan for President and Vice President of the United States. TPAC was founded as the first national non-partisan political action committee dedicated solely to championing responsible off-highway vehicle recreation on designated roads, trails, and areas on public and private lands through the electoral and legislative processes.

Early in President Barack Obama's term he showed his passion for burdensome federal regulations when he appointed extreme leaders from the environment movement such as Carol Browner to be Director of the White House Office of Energy and Climate Change. Browner was former head of the EPA during the Clinton-era.

Lisa Jackson was appointed to head the EPA and Nancy Sutley as chair of the White House Council on Environmental Quality.

On the other hand, Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan have regulatory reform of the EPA and other federal agencies as a key plank in their platform. A president Romney would require congressional approval of all new "major" regulations and reform the legal liability system to prevent spurious litigation.

Don Amador, Founder of the Trail Political Action Committee, states, "The OHV community is being continually bombarded with new federal rules and regulations that impact our ability to enjoy family-oriented motorized recreation on public and private lands. The Obama Administration has shown no substantive interest in scaling back their politically motivated regulatory agenda on lands managed by the U.S Forest Service and Bureau of Land Management."

"Trail voters believe there is one clear choice in this election. If you want to see the White House address tort reform and support personal freedoms which include the responsible recreational use of our public lands then you and your friends should vote for Romney/Ryan on November 6," Amador concludes.

STOP THE CLOSURE NIGHTMARE
Dear Trail Voter,

As national polls in the presidential race tighten in a number of states (PA, OH, WI, VA) - including several Dark Horse states such as OR and MN, TPAC strongly urges trail voters to enthusiastically support Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan for President and Vice President of the United States.

President Barack Obama in a second term would unleash his eco-czars to promulgate an endless parade of anti-access and anti-aftermarket regulations that would permanently change OHV recreation as we know it today.

Again, Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan have regulatory reform of the EPA and other federal agencies as a key plank in their platform. A president Romney would require congressional approval of all new "major" regulations and reform the legal liability system to prevent spurious litigation.

Trail voters need to bolster Romney's current rise in the polls. Make phone calls and send emails to your trail networks throughout the country. Ask them to support Romney and TPAC's efforts to help ensure that we have a pro-reform President in the White House and a supporting majority in the U.S. Senate and House to champion public land access and regulatory reform.

TPAC's war room is running 24/7 between now and Nov. 6. Watch for updates as new polling data comes in.

Here are TPAC's key races that will help President Romney rein in the regulators.

Here are TPAC's Key Senate races as of October 29, 2012

Tom Smith (PA - Senate)
Richard Mourdock (IN-Senate)
Josh Mandel (OH-Senate)
Tommy Thompson (WI-Senate)
Dean Heller (NV - Senate)
Denny Rehberg (MT-Senate)
George Allen (VA- Senate)
Jeff Flake (AZ - Senate)
Heather Wilson (NM-Senate)
Rick Berg (ND-Senate)

Here are TPAC's Key House races as of October 29, 2012

Andy Barr (KY CD-6)
John Koster (WA CD-1)
Dan Lungren (CA CD-7)
Chip Cravaack (MN CD-8)
Ricky Gill (CA CD-9)
Scott Tipton (CO-CD-3)

DONATE $25,$50, $100, $250, $500 DOLLARS TO SUPPORT TPAC'S EFFORT IN THIS ELECTION

Dear Trail Voter,

TPAC got a call today from a 30+ year-old trail rider who has decided to vote for the first time in this election and he is going to vote for pro-trail candidates. Basing your vote on large issues such as taxes, foreign aid, social security, and healthcare can be confusing and discouraging. Both parties have political baggage on those topics that could fill an airport.

This is where a single-issue political action committee such as TPAC can play an important role in an election. TPAC has just one very simple strategic goal -- TPAC will contribute to pro-access politicians who will support OHV recreation friendly legislation and oppose anti-access proposals and agency overregulation.

TPAC strongly believes that trail-voters can and will make a difference in this election. There are pro-access politicians who have and will continue to introduce OHV friendly legislation if we can give them a working majority.

Working together, we can stop the installation of more gates or closed signs on FS and BLM lands. Nov. 6 is rapidly approaching and we still have a lot of work to do.

Thanks to all of you who continue to support TPAC in this election to promote and protect responsible OHV recreation via the electoral process.

Dear Trail Voter,

With just two days until trail voters go to the polls, TPAC believes we are still in a dead heat in most, if not all, of our key targeted White House, Senate, and House races. Dozens of OHV clubs in various states are working hard right now to make sure their members vote for our trail candidates. However, they need those of you who have not engaged your OHV networks to send out a personal note to your contacts urging them to go and vote PRO-TRAIL on Nov. 6.

Virtually all of TPAC's key targeted and/or endorsed races are in battleground and/or swing states. Our candidates continue to get pummeled by huge ad campaigns and get-out-the-vote (GOTV) efforts funded by extreme elements of the environmental movement. For example, left-wing activists have chartered bus-loads of protesters from the S.F Bay Area into Sacramento to try and defeat our trail champion Dan Lungren (CA -CD7).

HERE IS OUR LIST OF KEY TARGETED AND/OR ENDORSED RACES FOR ELECTION 2012

President and Vice-President of the United States

Mitt Romney/Paul Ryan

U.S. Senate

Richard Mourdock (IN-Senate)

Tommy Thompson (WI-Senate)
Dean Heller (NV - Senate)
Denny Rehberg (MT-Senate)
George Allen (VA- Senate)
Jeff Flake (AZ - Senate)
Heather Wilson (NM-Senate)

U.S. House of Representatives

Andy Barr (KY CD-6)
John Koster (WA CD-1)
Dan Lungren (CA CD-7)
Chip Cravaack (MN CD-8)
Ricky Gill (CA CD-9)
Scott Tipton (CO-CD-3)

Take nothing for granted. Fire up your computer's email list and get on your FACEBOOK page and urge your friends and riding buddies to make sure they vote PRO-TRAIL on Nov. 6. There are two very different political paths that face each one of us in two days. We still have time to have a positive impact on this election. Your effort WILL make a difference.

Stay vigilant and continue to work hard right - your FREEDOM to enjoy OHV recreation on public and private lands depends on it!

Dear Trail Voter,

TPAC's Election Day prediction is that you will elect a pro-trail/pro-regulatory reform President, a pro-trail majority in the U.S. Senate, and retain the pro-trail majority in the House of Representatives.

Your energy for this election is fueled by the fact that you are tired of being tired. OHVers are tired of having the Forest Service ignore public input during the travel planning process. We are tired of having to pay $150 dollars to fill up our ¾ ton diesel pickup on the way up to our favorite riding area. We are tired of the EPA and other federal regulators creating new and politically motivated regulations that impact our access to roads and trails.

Other voting blocks are tired too. Coal miners in the battleground states are tired of federal regulators implementing plans to put them out of business. Gun owners in those same states are tired of new proposals by the administration to impact their 2nd Amendment rights. Churches are tired of having the federal government impose rules and regulations that violate their religious beliefs. Family breadwinners are tired of worrying about losing their job. Parents are tired of their college kids being forced to move back home after graduating because there are no post-graduation jobs.

TPAC believes trail-voters will know by early Wednesday morning who our next President and Senate Majority leader are. TPAC also believes there will be one or two "surprise" states in the West who will go for our candidates. Those two states are OR and NV.

You can now see that being "tired" is a huge motivator and it will be the deciding factor in this election. As results come in tonight - watch to see how many of our key targeted races win. Now go out and vote Pro-Trail!

HERE IS OUR LIST OF KEY TARGETED AND/OR ENDORSED RACES FOR ELECTION 2012

Dear Trail Voter,

Congratulations on being engaged as a trail voter in your first national election. As you knew, trail voters and off-road recreationists had a lot at stake in the 2012 election. TPAC always believed that you could make a difference in several tight races in battleground and/or swing states... and YOU did!

Our strategic goal for 2012 had four tenets:

Elect a pro-access majority to the U.S. Senate - Did Not Accomplish

Maintain our majority in the House of Representatives - Accomplished

Elect a pro-trail/pro-regulatory reform President - Did Not Accomplish

Get OHVers more engaged in trail politics - Accomplished

All of our key races were classic examples of where you had pro-access and pro-EPA reform candidates v. candidates who champion the closure agenda of the League of Conservation Voters, Earth Justice, Earth First!, and the Sierra Club. Trail voters did make a difference in several of the races including key senate campaigns in public land states (NV and AZ) and a toss-up House race in KY. Those were important victories.

HERE ARE THE RESULTS (updated 8:15am PST - Nov. 7) OF OUR LIST OF KEY TARGETED AND/OR ENDORSED RACES FOR ELECTION 2012.

President and Vice-President of the United States

Mitt Romney/Paul Ryan -- Lost

U.S. Senate

Tom Smith (PA - Senate) - Lost
Richard Mourdock (IN-Senate) - Lost
Josh Mandel (OH-Senate) - Lost
Tommy Thompson (WI-Senate) - Lost
Dean Heller (NV - Senate) - Won
Denny Rehberg (MT-Senate) - Lost
George Allen (VA- Senate) - Lost
Jeff Flake (AZ - Senate) - Won
Heather Wilson (NM-Senate) - Lost
Rick Berg (ND-Senate) - To close to call

U.S. House of Representatives

Andy Barr (KY CD-6) - Won
John Koster (WA CD-1) - Lost
Dan Lungren (CA CD-7) - To close to call
Chip Cravaack (MN CD-8) - Lost
Ricky Gill (CA CD-9) - Lost
Scott Tipton (CO-CD-3) - Won

TPAC believes we have a good foundation upon which to build an effective political voting block that will play an important role in the 2014 midterm election. Historically, there is a "6-year itch" in a 2nd Presidential term where the electorate is ready for change. Stay tuned for more updates and analysis over the next few days and weeks.

Thanks again for voting to protect your FREEDOM to enjoy responsible OHV recreation on public and private lands.

Dear Trail Voter,

TPAC wants to make sure that trail voters realize there will be many challenges that we face over the next 2-4 years. Anti-OHV groups and their advocates in federal agencies most certainly feel emboldened by the election results on November 6. They will use the ESA to try and list more threatened and endangered species such as the Coral Pink Sand Dunes Tiger Beetle in UT. Federal regulators at the EPA and other agencies will try and push new regulations that impact OHV recreation and related businesses. Land management agencies on many units will propose to further restrict historic motorized access to public lands.

However, there will be some legislative opportunities for pro-access interests. In 2005-2006, Congressman Richard Pombo (R) worked with Congressman Mike Thompson (D) on a comprehensive land-use bill - H.R. 233, the Northern California Coastal Wild Heritage Act. That bill had some very cutting edge pro-OHV provisions. It helped a local cottage fishing industry, too. But it also had a Wilderness component.

The Senate Majority Leader, Harry Reid, has a rule that any land-use bills (pro-OHV, pro-local economy, etc.) must contain some Wilderness for it to move through that legislative body. TPAC believes bipartisan legislation such as H.R. 233 has a good chance of becoming law. One current bill that fits that mold is H.R. 6286, the Clear Creek National Recreation Area, introduced by Congressman Sam Farr (D) earlier this year. NV also has legislation that is similar.

In the run-up to the 2014 midterm election, TPAC will be reviewing votes and other actions taken in the House and Senate that impact OHV recreation. There are 20 Democrat and 13 Republican senate seats in play in 2014.

In the coming months, TPAC will work on our pro-trail and pro-regulatory reform strategy for the next election. With your ongoing support, we will continue to grow our political strength to challenge the closure agenda of extreme green groups and their PACs via the electoral process.

TPAC will also need baseline support during the interim to help pay for website upgrades and meeting ongoing FEC compliance requirements.

DONATE $25, $50, $100 HERE TO SUPPORT TPAC FOR 2014

Thanks again for your support!

Dear Trail User,

Yesterday, the U.S. Senate confirmed Sally Jewell's nomination to head up the Department of Interior via an 87-11 voice vote.

The Senators that opposed her confirmation were Chambliss, Enzi, Rubio, Barrasso, McConnell, Vitter, Scott, Lee, Coburn, Fischer, and Johann.

She will be replacing the outgoing Ken Salazar who is moving back to Colorado.

During her confirmation hearing in March, Senators Barrasso and Lee expressed concerns about her position on OHV trail and road access to public lands.

Jewell will be the first "recreation" person confirmed as Secretary of the Interior. During her hearing last month, she stated a commitment to streamline the permitting process. Her efforts in that regard could be a plus for both motorized and non-motorized events held on BLM lands.

TPAC believes that a number of the more recreation-oriented federal land managers are optimistic at this point about having Jewell as their boss.

Last summer, Jewell, CEO of REI, was part of an outdoor industry coalition - which included representatives from the powersports industry - that helped launch the Western Governor's Association's report on the economic impact of outdoor recreation.

TPAC will be watching to see if that collaboration translates into her ability to work with diverse stakeholder groups as Secretary of the Interior.
