Would it kill you guys to post up and let us know? I'm not trying to be a DB, but c'mon we don't all live in the same area and don't talk via phone etc. Let the group know you're contributing. This would be helpful as well so we can make future decisions on what we want to contribute to etc.

Only ~6800 more votes needed to reach 25000!

Sign this petition today and tell EVERYONE you know to do the same! We're almost there, and I know the PBB community can make it happen!
Thanks,

Pretty impressive, this petition got to it's goal of 25,000 signatures in about two weeks (and two weeks ahead of schedule). Well done, everyone.

That's pretty cool. Lot of causes don't get that kind of backing usually.

As of right now, I'm sure we only have one rig that would be able to go play in that area M.M. (my new nickname for Mcfarlin).

RedBullJeep wrote:35% payment is below? YES... A OHV National Park Designation for Johnson Valley? MAYBE...

...

...

Wait a second, there is no OHV National Parks in this world!!!

Actually, there may very well be if we get a lucky break in the next couple of weeks!

Many of us already know that Jeff Knoll went before congress recently to pitch the Bartlett Amendment to save Johnson Valley. During that process, things went a bit farther than most of us ever dreamed they could. The Bartlett Amendment got things moving along and the bill by Representative Paul Cook was the real deal. It was not only added to a major appropriations bill (which is great), but it also includes language that will turn Johnson Valley into an OHV National Park...a tract of land designated as an OHV Open area with a designation that can only be altered by an act of congress.

This whole thing goes to vote in the next couple of weeks but if you have not recognized it already, our government runs on favors and lobbyists. OHV is not able to call in any favors of the Federal Government at this point so we need the backing of a few lobbyists. That costs money.

We need to step up and donate money RIGHT NOW!

"Save The Hammers" has been raising money for a long time now and those dollars have been carefully and wisely spent getting us this far...we are now on the brink of success! However, there is not enough money left in the fund so we need an emergency infusion of cash.

PLEASE, we've only got a couple of weeks but the lobbyists need time to actually lobby on our behalf, so that means we've got just a week to raise the bulk of what is needed. Falken Tire generously offered a donation match, dollar-for-dollar, up to $5,000 for the money raised in the next week...that is AWESOME and appreciated!

However, I've seen the PBB step up and in less than 24 hours raise over $20,000 for a family in need. This is our lifestyle in need here...so much rides on this...we need to go over-the-top and beyond what we've done before!

ORBA and Save The Hammers is trying to raise over $30k...WE CAN DO THAT...

WHY SHOULD WE??? Because if we get one OHV area with federal designation, then that will lead to other opportunities as there is precedence. If you want to protect lands for OHV use, then this is one of the biggest steps we've taken in decades, if not forever.

Pirates, LETS DO THIS!

Make your donations at:

Save the Hammers

And please, dig a bit deeper than normal for this...we do not want to say we came up underfunded on such a major opportunity!

Oh, and my first installment of new 35% can be found in the "PAYMENT" thread in Gen ChitChat that I have re-vamped with some new photos from the Moni series. I don't want to screw up this thread...please, make this happen people! KEEP IT UP TOP!!!!

And yes, the title of this thread was written to make you look. Don't complain...I know the difference between the views of a boring thread title that no one pays attention to, and the title that makes people want to click on it so they can view a train-wreck. Such is life, you're here, let's make a difference for Johnson Valley and going forward for other OHV areas!

Y'all should explore the reason why the Federal government owns so much Western land to begin with. The real fight should be for states to take back their land.

..The picture Randall posted was taken in the Gen-Right tent at the King of the Hammers and that is where I received my shirt...:biggthump

..Gen Right held a dinner in their tent for those who donated and also bought a shirt during this event...

..At this dinner we got to meet with not only Rep. Paul Cook, Jeff Knoll, but also the heads of organizations such as O.R.B.A , C.O.R.V.A., and the S.E.M.A. representatives from Washington D.C. who are also fighting diligently for this cause...With all the organizations under one tent it was crowded but nobody cared as it was to get together before the battle began..

..There are many other people who are not so famous who are giving up all their free time to do mailers, create letters, make phone calls, do follow ups, and contact and report daily in order to fight this battle...Without their help too this fight would suffer greatly..

...If you see someone wearing one of these shirts please Thank them for sharing in the cause..:salute:

..It's funny as I get asked about "What is the Hammers" down at the beach communities as people have never heard of the Hammers nor are most aware of where Johnson Valley is...But they definitely show interest when you speak of Government trying to take over more public land...:nono:

..This is happening at the same time they grounded the "Blue Angels" for the rest of the year due to lack of funding..:(

..Anyways, Buy the shirt, Wear the shirt, and take the time to talk about this with anyone who ask..

..Think about it...From a small group of people to A National OHV Park..

..Who'd a thunk it...

..and let's not forget about Save the Hammers Chairman Jeff Knoll..:salute:

RedBullJeep wrote:BIG news...today the house voted to pass our bill. It surprised us as this vote was not supposed to take place for a couple more weeks. This makes it easier to focus on the reason for the fundraiser, which is lobbying Senate, which is controlled by Democrats who are not exactly OHV friendly.

Our fight comes down to this one last battle. If the Senate passes our amendment, we have a National OHV Recreation Area that can only be changed by an act of Congress. If this does not pass, we're going to have very low odds of hanging onto that land at all.

Which do you want it to be? If you want that land to remain as OHV land, DONATE...DIG DEEP. Also, SHARE and ENCOURAGE OTHERS TO DONATE! Contact your clubs, local OHV businesses of all kinds, if you know someone who is well-to-do, ask them for a great favor to family recreation...many make annual donations for write-offs anyway, so why not to keep a family-based lifestyle alive! Do what you can and let's make this happen!

In order to keep this land open to the public we need this bill to pass. In order to get it through the anti ohv Senate we* are going to have to play the game of lobbying, in order to do that we* need money to hire lobbiests.
PLEASE donate, weither you ever plan to set foot outside of your state or not.

Remember, this isn't just about saving Johnson Valley, its about setting precedence for definding all public land. To this point in time we* have always been a reactive force when it comes to land closure. By stepping up and batteling for this measure we* are taking the fight to the proactive side and showing the antis that we are serious about maintaining our rights to access tha which is rightfully ours.
