Preview of a Demon4x4 app?

Hey all, check out this preview of a potential Demon4x4 app. This one is a little limited because it's the free version as far as number of users and site visits per month, but could be fully unlocked including all branding for a decent price.
I threw this together in a little less than an hour, so it still needs some tweaking.

What about maybe a fundraiser to get the money for the app?

I'm all ears. Normal price is a one-time $1499, on sale right now for $999. The full version would also include submission to apple through their developer program (which usually costs $99 a year), as well as unlimited use of this app. I'm looking into whether tapatalk or forum runner could be integrated in much the same way that facebook and twitter are, etc.

I'm thinking maybe we could get a bbq set up and sell plates. We could get a bunch of our rigs out there so people can see what we are about. I think Houston or Austin would be the best places to do it.

True. There is an easier way, as selling food to raise the money would likely cost 75% of what it cost to get the app now. Simply ask the group to chip in. With that said, we'd need to know all the benefits to group members, non members and benefits to future members to justify the cost.

Strangely, there are already 20 people using this, even one in Canada. Web hits at 72. The red are people using this in it's 'native app' state, which at the moment only Android marketplace allows. 3 android users have downloaded this already. I'm assuming one is Tim.

Apple is for suckers.
ultimately, use of app....One heck of a business card? Its got some cool little fuction, ties, etc...and i assume an aler feature...good for spreading word, but best use is ultimately business card. Not that I'm saying it negatively....In our world today thru app markets is probably the new number 1 exposure. First it was websites, then chatrooms, then forums, then social media, (MySpace, bookface, twatter,) and neigh is the day of apps...
If that is the main intended intent then gravy, if not we gotta get more features to broaden the appeal...

Offroad parks locations, and possibly maps of parks? Then you instantly appeal to anyone who doesn't even have the faintest interest in demon.
'I can never find a place to wheel!'
'You need the demon4x4.com app lists and maps of parks nation wide'
For That They Use the app, they're now turned onto demon, and hopefully take it further.....If not we didn't need/want them anyways....but they still use the app and tell their friends so on an so forth. #1 advertising method, word of mouth, the rest is getting yourself into their mouth.
otherwise it currently only appeals to demons for the convinience offered up, and those who for whatever reason are slightly interested in demon....like a painter even if you get some1 to take your card, if they're happy with the color of their house it doesn't do much good.....but if your card is also a flashlight, laser, pen, what have you....they'll keep it, hopefully to the day they're ready for paint....or atleast by then they've got your name burned in their mind.

Daily planner/organizer! That's pretty much the function of the app as it stands right now. Useful mainly/only if ur already a demon or interested in being a demon.....we gotta get something that makes it POP, useful for anyone into offroading in general.
Along the same lines as the turkey tumble whilst chatting you'd suggested I join the forum....If i had just been there to wheel with Mike you could've said it 36 times and it wouldn't of mattered...i was only there to wheel with mike, and no interest in you silly demons....but if it was suggested by registering I'm also qualified some how to win a deuce&1/2....then I'm all over it.....
Then again I was already interested, and pretty much recruited by Mike....shrug...
I didn't say my maps idea was easy, but it is easier then a flamethrower function...toasted marshmallows NOW!
a weekly feature maybe? Demon's kitchen hosted/presented by the demon chef. Such classics as manifold burritos, beer can chicken, new concoctions like meatball muffler chili(exhaust pipes required) 8inch daylighter gumbo bowls. 20,35,&55watt levels of heat. 50w has ya seeing white for miles. IDK but something that gives it broader appeal/usage....
I wasn't around for the wiki suggestion/idea...If i was it would have my full backing. 4 major questions in our world.....what size tires, cheap way to lift, y won't uhaul rent to my explorer? And where oh where can I go offroading? The most comprehensive and useful list I've ever seen already exists in these here forums...and there's still a lot to be filled..... A wiki of trails, parks, public access etc is desperately needed imo........but we can't just throw it up there as just some wiki.....we need it moderately branded as brought to you by demon4x4.com
A wiki as such linked thru the app is a great start. this still doesn't give the app itself a direct use/function, but definitely a solid highlight to use to get the ppl to download the app....Once they've done that chances are, as long as we don't irritate them too much with alerts/notifications they won't delete it, but we can keep them reminded of demon with a bi or tri weekly 'announcement of some sort.
far as the mouth comment i worked soft sales/advertisement for 2 years....i worked that into as many pitches as I could where it was fitting.....wouldn't come across offensive......I'd say 70 percent of my call back sales aaccredit that line.....bad parts it's true. Newspaper add? 60% of buyers don't make it to the add sections, 20% do, but don't acknowledge they're existence. So now we're down to 20% it trickles down a little more but yea....otherwise there's 3 types of pigeons....those who are interested, those who arn't, and them who don't realize they're interested....The latter always being the target :D

I think the wiki link is a good idea. Or maybe a Google maps link? That way you can actually see it on a map. We would want to venture out of Texas yes?

Some of us have done so already...
And I'm not saying that the offroad trails wiki should be limited to Texas Trails only. My ideal vision for it would be for us to start the process by adding the information we have and can get, primarily about Texas trails, get it to where we feel pretty comfortable with how it works, the moderations aspects, any shortfalls, etc., before we 'go live' with it, and by that I mean opening it up to outside contributions, similar to a standard wiki. I (meaning this group) would like to maintain full moderation rights on it, so that nothing is posted to it without approval and whatnot.
As far as the Google maps link, we more or less . You may or may not be aware of it. The Google map link is really only a very small part of what would ideally be listed in a wiki entry. You'd have coordinates for trailheads, trail maps, descriptions, costs, images, ideas of what works and what doesn't work there (like tire type, wheelbase, overall height, stuff like that), facilities, camping, hell, maybe even flora and fauna.

So I downloaded this app last week (I MAY have been one of the ones from Thursday, or maybe Friday, can't remember already). But, I like it and it pulls things together nicely. I'm worried about something mentioned earlier: what is to prevent another developer imaging this exact app and putting their own spin on it, even after going live . The wheeling locations map of Texas and other states is an excellent idea, and a good way for exposure. But a lot of the harder wheelers already know their local spots already. A parts directory, or a way to "check in" at certain sites could also be a feature as well. TRS has a quick reference link, "Mobile Tech," that allows you to easily identify VIN# or OBD codes while working on your car or in a junkyard. That's uber convenient. That, coupled with their axle guide links, make it one of the more valuable sites available.
It would take up a lot of memory, but is there such an app that references or locates parts at salvage yards, like Car-Part.com ?
I like the way the Demon4x4 app connects us, but it's really only a useful tool for members. It's a gateway to the other media sites, but it's a couple extra steps to access Tapatalk. The forums and and Facebook are the only links that get updated regularly anyways, right?
