I would recommend a 10" wheel for a tire width of 12.50 or more, but less than that, I'd go with an 8" width. Of course, if you have plans of later getting a wider tire, then by all means get the wider wheel now, so you don't have to get new ones. Often, tire manufacturers will have recommended wheel width's for certain tires. BFGoodrich's recommended wheel width for their 31x10.50x15 is 7"-9".

Nebulous, we need your axle code off of your truck so we can start looking for which 4x4 conversion parts you'll need.



Ford Motor Company drive axle gear ratio and transmission gear ratio codes may found on the Vehicle Certification label or the Vehicle Rating Label. The Certification label is typically attached to the door latch edge on the driver side door.

This label is from a 1999 Ford Explorer, the axle code is "42", and the transmission code is "D".

Ok, you've currently got 3.73 gears, open differential, and an M5OD-R4 Transmission. Basically, whever donor vehicle you get the 4x4 trans from needs to be a J from 2002-2003, and the Axle code needs to be a 46 (3.73 open) or D4 (3.73 Limited Slip) axle, unless you plan to re-gear. Also you will need driveshafts from a 4x4 Sport, and of course a transfer case (preferably manual shift).

Even so, it's a lot of space it takes up by the drivers foot space. I enjoy my space, and the clean look. Aesthetics for the win!
