So the transmission hasn't played very nice with doing the 5.0 in a stock height 4wd explorer. I have the motor as low as it can go on the frame which gives me about a 1/4" to 1/2" on clearance till it hits the pivot bracket.



This has it about 1.5 Inches higher in the engine bay over a second gen. so the Exhaust was shooting straight in to the fire wall and I could not get the bell housing on the trans to squeeze into and tuck up to the body, it was hitting the floor pan. So I installed a one inch body lift to help with the clearances.





now I have room for the exhaust now too.



now I have to raise the front bumper and grill guard.

Are you saying that you think it would work with either a body lift or a suspension lift, since the latter would drop that pivot point?

Yes with a sas you could drop the motor down farther in the engine bay and no radius arm cross member to contend with

So even with the one inch body lift I'm still having floor pan clearance on the driver side so tomorrow ill be beating the shit out of the floor pan.

Sounds like fun. That's what I had to do to get the atlas to fit, as you no doubt recall.

At this point, I'm guessing it was not. Some simple pounding and it's the floor, no one will see.

Is the plan still to use a 4.0L plastic radiator? Do you think that will offer enough cooling capacity for the larger motor?

Also, what about the fuel pump? I read somewhere that v6 fuel pumps don't have enough juice to properly feed a v8, which could cause destruction under WOT.
