She needs a lot of work under the hood. I have a fluctuating oil pressure issue, lots of suspension work and some transmission sensor issues. Interior is pretty beat up as well, but the exterior is pretty clean for something with 266k and it has no death rattle on the ORIGINAL engine. Transmission has been sloppily replaced, with some kind of rubber tubing connecting a cooler line that split and initiated the sale.

Found some 4wd manuals in the local area running around $500. I can also pick up a 1354e for a song since nobody wants them. I would really like to wire it up to the 4wd switch. I know there is a way to do it, because the ranger used the 1354e for all their electric transfer cases.

I just need to scavenge the hubs and cv joints from the jy and get a set of 4wd rotors. I'll rebuild the old front driveshaft from Red and throw in the diff from Red as well. With all the parts together, it should be a weekend job.

Priced out I expect the whole thing to run about a $1000, depending on the deals I get. I already have half the parts. That 5r is coming out for sure, POS is not holding pressure in reverse and only really works in the 1st and 2nd gears. Manual here I come or a good rebuild for a good price.

I know all that is very possible only thing the PCM is gonna have to be tricked to run the manual or get a PCM from a manual truck.

I just had this thought... I have wanted for a while to drop a 5.0 in Red, so why not do a dual swap? Take the whole drivetrain out of Red and dump it in Sky and then transplant a 5.0 into Red? That takes care of the reliability of my new daily and adds some oomph to the go pedal on my off road rig.
