today I picked up the front clip for my Newest Explorer. The Goal is to have a 95+ explorer looking truck with a v-8 with factory wiring with the 92 Frame and a solid axle. 4.88 gears and 37" tires.

PS. Jeff Since you wanna work on our Trucks sooo badly once the Body is done I will let you do the SAS swap on it.

Did the 95 not have TTB? Did they switch over to IFS that year?

This 1992 Ford Explorer has been converted to Diesel by swapping in a 3.9 Liter Cummins Diesel. The engine came from a Frito-Lay step van.

This Explorer reused the stock P/S pump and A/C compressor and relocated the batteries to the back behind the tires on the kick panels. It is really a smooth set up. It's believed he even used the stock radiator. The diesel is a 4BT Cummins

The truck uses the stock motor mount on the drivers side..... but made a simple bracket to connect the block to the mounts. It uses a Chevy tranny, 700r4 and is 2wd. The stock t-case (which is what he will be using) was a 13-54 and will be fitted to the tranny by a custom adapter. It is electric shift, so no custom linkage, just spliced wires.

He did have to cut the crossmember under the motor, and make another since it did not allow for the oil pan. The main reason for the swap was because the diesel lasts so much longer, and there was some sort of a major problem with the motor in the 1st place, so he swapped it out.

The fan is now electric because the water pump that it would usually bolt to is in a totally different place and would not allow it to fit correctly.

He compensated for the weight by putting spacers under the springs.

Wow, Im such a dumbass, for some reason I thought it was a two door :crazy

I dunno where I got that idea, but then again the original Red Bull was a four door, OK class I'll pay attention now!

You definately have your work cut out for you, to be honest I'm not sure if even I would personally have bitten that project off or not, prolly might have, but then again.....................

I got to see Red Bull 2 in person yesterday....nanananana.

Anyway, Kris had done a lot of work, and a lot more to go, but this truck is going to be AWESOME when it's finished. :twisted:

Well I felt it would be easier to finish Red Bull 2 if I had a Good donor Truck for the drive train. So apon my search for a donor I run across this 96 Explorer v-8 2wd 89K... So I start a smiling. I get a hold of the owner we work out a deal and I should soon have my donor here in victoria.
